# Quick Start

Powerplant syncs your team's coding-agent sessions, so every teammate's agent can improve on what the team is doing.

1. **Syncs your sessions** from Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, redacted in the background, for the repos your workspace allowlists.
2. **Gives your agents team context** through the Powerplant MCP. Ask "what's the team doing in the billing service?" without leaving your agent.
3. **Shows your team's activity** at [app.usepowerplant.com](https://app.usepowerplant.com).

## Installing Powerplant

The CLI handles setup. If you're the first person in your GitHub org to install Powerplant, you'll be prompted to make a workspace, and for a GitHub admin to approve installation.

<!-- platform-toggle -->

### macOS

```bash
npm install -g @usepowerplant/cli && powerplant init
```

### Windows

```powershell
irm https://api.usepowerplant.com/install.ps1 | iex
```

To check the installer's signature first, see [Verifying the Windows installer](/docs/technical-details/#verifying-the-windows-installer).

`powerplant init` will walk you through adding your machine to Powerplant for background sync, and connecting your agents to MCP. It's safe to re-run.

Requirements and other details are in [Technical Details](/docs/technical-details/).
